Adeptus Mechanicus Research Station

Hello folks. I just finished a small Admech research station for our Badab War campaign. This little outpost sports reinforced walls, environmentally sealed windows, and a Astropath communication relay. A small garrison of Skitarri is stationed here to protect the Admech team sent to Bellerophon's Fall to research the feasibility of reclaiming the dead world for Mars.

Like the previous few buildings, this conversion is based on the Armorcast stucco buildings. These really make great building foundations.

Sci Fi Generator

Howdy folks! Up next from the terrain project is a power generator I finished the other day. This piece was made from the barrel of one of my son's toy laser guns. He kindly donated it to me to use as a terrain piece (though I had to promise to replace it with a new Nerf gun). I had plans to make it light up. A quick trip to the craft store and I came away with a color changing LED light, which I thought looked pretty cool. Here's the result! The rest of the parts are made by me from plasticard and wire.

More Armorcast Stucco Buildings!

Hello folks. Back again with more Armorcast converted and painted stucco buildings. I love these models. Such a nice blank slate for making all kinds of sci fi buildings. I now have three completed and have three more to paint up. They should fill up the table nicely when they are done. I want to some day put in interior walls and details, but that will have to wait. I really need to get as much sci fi scenery up and running for our Badab War campaign. My friend Rob is painting up Badab forces for Epic and we are slowly assembling the fleets for games of Battlefeleet Gothic. More Mantis Warriors and Fire Hawks will be on the way once these buildings are done.

More Refurbished Buildings

Hello,

Just a quick update to show the latest building in the refurbishing project. Two are painted and two more have the detail work completed ready to be painted. More to come as they are finished. I am also working on a Warhammer 40,000 style mining tower. It's coming together nicely. Pics to come...

Building Refurbishing

Now that I am getting back into gaming in the Warhammer 40,000 universe, the one thing I desperately need is sci fi terrain. Years of historical gaming has left me with lots of buildings and scenery that are great for Europe in the 1940s, but not so much the 41st millenium. I had some of the basics such as trees, rocks, and hills, but no buildings and very little scatter terrain that fit.

When I was going through some of my old terrain in the basement I came across a box of adobe buildings I had built years ago. They had been sold off to a friend then recently reacquired from him with the idea that I might turn them into Ork buildings. Looking at the buildings again it seemed they were built to well to turn into Orky structures but would make a decent basis for a sci fi shanty town.

I went to work with some plastic card, tubing, and basswood and turned this...

Into this...

These buildings should fit well with my post apocalypse style burned landscape terrain.

Sarissa Precision Laser Cut MDF Inn.

Continuing on with the Sarissa Precision buildings project, here is the second completed building. I turned this large storefront into a rural French Inn. I decided to name it "L'Auberge de Chat Noir" (the Black Cat Inn). In fact, I have a black cat sitting on my lap as I type this, so it is quite fitting (Her name is Gizmo). I haven't put the sign onto the storefront yet, as I am looking into printing it onto some waterslide decals rather than try to hand paint the lettering. My skills as an ex-billboard painter don't apply well to 1/56th scale buildings...

If the waterslide decal printing works out well, I might even try to print some French advertisements to go on the side of some of these buildings. Every French town and village needs a Suze Apertif ad.
